Zesty Green Glow Smoothie

This citrusy green smoothie is Alex’s go-to when she wants something light, refreshing, and full of goodness and fiber — especially in the lead-up to embryo transfer or during the two week wait.

It’s cooling, easy on digestion, and full of anti-oxidants, and anti-inflammatory ingredients like cucumber, spinach, and avocado. The zing from lemon and ginger makes it feel extra fresh, while the healthy fats help keep blood sugar steady.

Sip slowly and let your body absorb the goodness.

  • 1 cup water
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • ½ avocado
  • ½ cup sliced cucumber
  • 15–20g unflavoured collagen or plant-based protein
  • ½ inch fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 cup baby spinach (blanched or frozen)
  • ½ kiwi
  • Optional: a few ice cubes

Swaps & Tips

No kiwi?
Swap the kiwi for a few slices of green apple or a chunk of pear for a similar sweetness and vitamin C. 

Out of fresh spinach?
Frozen spinach works beautifully – just make sure it’s blanched to keep the flavour fresh and mild. 

Want to keep it plant based?
Swap collagen for a neutral plant based protein powder or simply skip for a lighter drink. 

Feeling a bit bloated?
Add a small pinch of fennel seeds or mint leaves to support digestion further. 

Need more calories?
Throw in a spoonful of hemp seeds or a small piece of banana to make it more sustaining. 

 

Method

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blitz until smooth.
  2. If using ice, either blend it in or pour the smoothie over it.
  3. Adjust thickness with more water if needed.
